check
I just made both gyno (this monday night) and dermo (next month) appts-- check those off the list! now i just need to get a physical appt. I've never done that since pre-college, when I was still a kid....I guess with yearly gynos, I never really thought about getting a regular dr. And since we're never sick (knock on wood) we've never needed one. I want to get a full blood work up too. I don't even know what my cholesterol is or anything. Cleanse was supposed to ship yesterday, I'm ready! Bring it on.

Things That Make Us Happy
I feel like I'm entering into a new stage of life....Is it mid-life? Or maybe Mom of kids rather than mom of babies/toddlers/preschoolers? Not really sure, but whatever it is, it's something different than what it's been the last 7.5 years. The move to motherhood was smooth and easy, one kid at a time. But now that we're moving in another direction, it somehow seems more drastic.
So I've been thinking a lot about what makes us (Hubs and I) happy. Not just happy, but joyful, and high. As we move towards our next phase of family like (no nappers! kids who can do stuff! etc!) I'm thinking we need to revisit our Happy Things, since maybe the things that brought us together pre-kids will be the things bring us together as a family, too.
Here Goes, in no order other than my brain's:
1. Hiking, especially near water
2. Live music
3. Cold beer added to #2
4. Doing projects together
5. Quirky places, towns, cities
6. Restaurants/pubs from #5
7. Silence, but together
8. Seeing our dogs happy-- on a hike, in the snow, in the river, just happy.
9. the ocean
10. any water, really
11. running (not really together though)
12. sitting outside on our deck listening to music
13. scrabble, cards, etc. (Not really sure about this one. I WANT it to be something that makes us happy, but is it?)
14. really just anything outide
15. swimming pretty much anywhere
16. open space
17. add a soccer ball or even a football to #17
18. yardwork
19. gardening
20. being filthy dirty at dusk as a result of #18 and 19
21. Crosby Stills, Steely Dan, and the like
22. pizza and sushi
23. going new places, but not far, and not for long
24. roller coasters
25. Disney World
OK I think I could keep going but I think I'll ask Hubs for his ideas. I'm curious!
Love to all my readers! (ha ha it is the greatest LOve of all!)
OK I'm adding this from Hubs, who I emailed for his ideas, whithout seeing mine. He wrote (I told him to take 60seconds, elimating the probably "I don't have time" answer)
Happy Pre-Kids Things According to Hubs:
Dogs
Dinners out
TV
Being in the yard
Outdoor adventures
Exercise (runs/walks)
Projects
Me not working at night
Funny how similar they are. TV? Really?

She Drives. Me. Crazy (woo, hoo)
So Hubs tells me last night that he thinks I need to rejoin Facebook. He says I"ve been "crazy" every since I quit. (My jaw drops in mock horror)
WHAT!>!>!>
But looking back over the last FB-free week, I've realized that since I don't have an outlet to share what I'm doing and thinking, I'm telling everything to Hubs! Calling him more, emailing him more, talking nonstop when he gets home from work. But isn't that the way its supposed to be?
Another pro is that I've written and received more personal emails, just between 2 people (imagine!), made more phone calls, etc. In other words, I think I am making an effort to reconnect in a more meaningful, personal way. And it feels GOOD! So sorry Hubs! You'll just have to deal. ;)
Cleaning lady is here today....I HATE HATE HATE geting ready for her to come! (Cleaning for the cleaning lady? Ridiculous!) but love love love the 3 hours of clean house after she leaves....I'd totally clean myself but I get distracted and could never finish in the 8 houts that she does it. I'm lucky to have her!
OK off to chew off Hubs' ear before he leaves for work!

Random Thoughts
When I am pre-monthly I get all crazy with my thoughts and actions
-I moved furniture in the den last night. Again. ("Mommy likes to move furniture! they tease)
-I want a puppy. (NO I DON'T!)
-Projects are swirling around in my head. Paint the hearth, paint the porch, the back steps, my room, the den, the play/laundry room,B3's room. (note to self: call Painter Bob). Add a gate to the side of the steps, plan our summer garden (yay! sun!), call in a foundation guy, french drain, expand and finish the basement, add a mudroom to the basement entry, pavers for a front walk and a long the driveway, WOo I'm tired just thinking a about it. I really might do the hearth thing though! And call a guy about the pavers!
-I want a hot tub. Hubs negged it already, but wouldn't that be FUN?
-thinking a lot about adoption.....But I feel like I need to get my life in order first, I have about 8009230487 doctors appts that i've been putting off (gyno, dermo, dentist is made, regular, and optho) so i think I should take care of that. I don't know why I have been putting that off! Maybe cause i feel like I don't have times that I can actually go? excuses excuses!
-isagenix coming tomorrow. I have a feeling I'm going to be GROUCHY so watch out world!

Easy Peasy
Having everyone home yesterday-- and recovering from the stomach thing-- made me realize FOR SURE that having them all home is SO MUCH EASIER than the usual deal. No pick ups, drop offs, play dates (not that we're big on those), lunches to pack, papers to sign, fundraisers to fund, nothing! Of plus since they were on recovery all I fed them was toast (on paper plates! ha!) and Gatorade all day, so no meals or snacks to prepare. Hubs came home from work and was like WOAH you've been cleaning cause I had SO MUCH time! I could totally homeschool. Maybe for Middle School?
I miss FB. Nah, I miss having a place to talk. And I keep talking to myself in the 1st person present progressive. (Kathy is writing on her blog. Kathy is thinking that this snow is dumb. Kathy thinks February should be skipped next year.) Get it?
Cleanse is due to arrive 2/25, I'm scared! But I can do it. I NEED to do it. I don't even recognize myself anymore when I look in the mirror. yuckkkkkk
Sis has dance this afternoon, I negged a bday party invite because of it. Does that make me a bad mom (mean! what if she's the only one not there?) or a good mom? (oh, so responsible, we paid for those dance lessons now stick to your commitment!) hmmmmm

Sick Day
Both boys started with the pukes last night, luckily just one time each...YUCK! I feel so bad for them but it seems like they are feeling a bit better now, G7 at least. B3 still looks a little pale. Luckily we all have off today so they can just ve out in from of the TV and eat their toast.
I quit FB for good yesterday. (I blindly copied and pasted a new password in so I can reconnect even if I try! ha!) It was sucking up too much time! I found that I was using it as a time-killer, and then 30 min would go by and for what? I really did enjoy reconnecting with a lot of people, but those people I can call, email, or whatever. It just became SO anti-social, which is the opposite of what it's supposed to be, right?
The theme for me right now is CLEANSING. Facebook quitation was step one. Next step, is a physical cleanse. Isogenix 9 day and then 30 day is on its way. I know it's going to be really hard, but it's what I need. I have let myself go in SO MANY WAYS over the last four years, really since moving back to NJ. (I joke with Hubs that NJ is toxic to me!) I've donr nothing about it, now it is time! Anyway I think quitting coffee and diet coke is going to be hard, but i love the idea that I am going to have a strict regimen to follow with everything in front of me. I am carrying SO MUCH extra weight, and it's really making me mad. I used to be hot and blonde, now I'm dumpy and brown with gray. Even my skin has gotten worse! I can deal with the hair but I really need an overhall! Little Sis is trying to convinve be to join her gym for the classes, and I think I might go for it. I was never a gym person but LOVED classes at the Richmond JCC pre-G7.
SO out with the Facebook, in with the physical cleansing. ALso on the agenda is house purging (we have so much CRAP!) and some soul searching. I just joined our Church Council (Hubs jokes, "What are you, 70?) and we have some cool stuff in the works with a committee I'm on. I really think it will be awesome for me spiritually.
