Bring on the eggs

Buddy passed his "Egg Challenge" today! Since his yearly skin test showed no signs of allergy, we brought and egg for him to eat at the allergist's office. Pretty funny. Anyway, Doc gave him a bite (dipped in ketch, of course), then came back 10 min later to check him, and repeated that four times. Good thing we packed a bag of magic markers-- We had our first games of tic tac toe! Anyway, after a good hour and some of occassional egg eating, and showing no reaction (HE used to get a red shiny rash above his lip), we headed home, one less allergy. The peanut battle continues. . .

I wish that Bud's pediatrician would have recognized his rash as a sign of food allergies. They thought it was dry skin/pacifier irritation/bacterial infection, and we didn't find out it was egg related until we discovered the peanut allergy and tested for everything, egg came up positive. Anyway, rash on face, especially around mouth = food allergy symptom!

Buddy wants eggs for dinner tonight. . .

Sweet Baby's Checkup

Sweet Baby had his four month checkup today. It was the first at our new pediatrician, and I was really thrilled with how it was conducted. We were there for an hour, no waiting, and lots of face time with the doc. The nurse was so sweet, and the doc was in no rush, explained everything. He was sweet with the baby, and really interacted with him. From what I told him/filled out in his survey, Sweet Baby is a bit slower with his gross motor skills, but looks fine in terms of muscle strength. Doc says it might be his size (17 1/2 pounds!) that is keeping him from attempting to roll over. Or it could just be the fact that he's so content. . .Anyway, he had FOUR shots, poor little guy. He took them like a champ (a screaming one anyway) and slept it off when we got home. Buddy got his ears rechecked at all's clear.

Mom brought Marty over this afternoon to play. The kids had a great time for an hour or so but after that it got to be too much for Buddy. He doesn't like being contolled or bossed around, especially on his own turf. . .He hold his own but sort of retreats inside himself when this sort of thing happens. I guess I'm glad that he doesn't cower, but wish he could let it roll a bit. But I think it's hard when Marty is so much older-- 11, I think.

Good day, sleepy momma. . .More later. . .

A first

Hubs just took Buddy and Sister to their first swim lesson. It's one of those things that we've been thinking about all summer, probably since May, and just haven't gotten to. Oops! Things like this are one of the things that I feel to be a bit overwhelming in the world of 3 kids. How do you balance it all, especially as they get older? I'm thinking Sister would love to start dance class soon, but she really likes her music class, and Buddy would like karate or gymnastics, but with three mornings of school this week, would it be too much to add to his little schedule? I know that I crave routine and schedule, and I think that they do to, but how to you make sure you still have the time to just relax and chill and play? I know it's only going to get worse as they get older and want to do more. I'm guessing with three I'll just have to limit the number of things they're involved in to keep my sanity!

Back to the swim lessons. I feel like it's silly to send Sister, too, but I thought it might be easier on Buddy if she's there. Even though they're 22 1/2 months (I still can't say 2 years!) apart, they are definitely playmates and peers. She is much more outgoing, so I think her presence puts him at ease sometimes. And visa versa, but for Big Brother reasons. Anyway, hubs took both of them a few minutes ago. They went happily but I think they're both nervous inside. Hopefully they'll have a good experience-- They're going to a private pool at the home of a family we know through my mom, and the teacher is a college-age guy. I think Buddy will think it's cool since all his teachers are always girls, but Miss Sis might get nervous-- She's suddenly afraid of most men aside from her beloved Daddy.

We had Julia's birthday party last night. The kids had a blast and were exhausted when we got home. I felt terrible keeping Sweet Baby up that late (7:30!) but he slept til 8:30 this morning, which made up for it I'm sure. He's such a sweet and easy baby, a "toot widdle baby" as Sis would say. How in the world did I get so lucky with these three?

Here We Go

Well, I've been reading other people's blogs for so long, I figured it was time to start my own! About me: I'm a 30 year old SAHM to three kids: Buddy, Sister, and Sweet Baby. These aren't their real names, but I'm a little paranoid about the identiy thing. I don't even know how this think works, or if anyone other than me will ever read it. I'm just thinking this is going to be my place to record all of our day-to-day stuff that I'll know I want to remember and I'm too unorganized to scrapbook or journal about. So here goes!

Right now my life is busy with mostly kids stuff. I'm on a quest to lose 30 pounds (10 pounds per baby-- Why didn't anybody stop me?! he he) and get organized. I know HOW to do it all, at least in theory, but it's still hard! Any suggestions out there?

I also quit drinking Diet Coke three days ago, and oh my gosh this is really huge for me! I have what I think is a serious addition to that beautiful beverage. I love the way that silver and red can (yes, can-- not bottles, that's just not worth it, but a good fountain, like from Wendy's, is good, too) feels when I reach in the fridge. I love the way it sounds when you pop it open for the first time, and when you pick it up after setting it down, and it's surprisingly full. I love that it has zero calories. And just the right amount of caffeine. But I really don't like feeling addicted! Sweet Baby stopped nursing at 3 1/2 months (long stoy, more later) and although it was a sad day, it was also so great because I knew I was free to drink all the brown poison I mean Diet Coke that I wanted! Anyway, I was feeling bloated and yucky and dehydrated, and I kept hearing all this stuff that said you would probably end up fat if you drank Diet Coke (Which I'm really not sure of, as I lost all of my baby wait after Sister was born on a strict diet of Diet Coke). Anyway, I'm done with it. It's gone, out of my life. I feel proud of myself, less bloated, etc. . .but I really really really miss it!
