Buddy passed his "Egg Challenge" today! Since his yearly skin test showed no signs of allergy, we brought and egg for him to eat at the allergist's office. Pretty funny. Anyway, Doc gave him a bite (dipped in ketch, of course), then came back 10 min later to check him, and repeated that four times. Good thing we packed a bag of magic markers-- We had our first games of tic tac toe! Anyway, after a good hour and some of occassional egg eating, and showing no reaction (HE used to get a red shiny rash above his lip), we headed home, one less allergy. The peanut battle continues. . .
I wish that Bud's pediatrician would have recognized his rash as a sign of food allergies. They thought it was dry skin/pacifier irritation/bacterial infection, and we didn't find out it was egg related until we discovered the peanut allergy and tested for everything, egg came up positive. Anyway, rash on face, especially around mouth = food allergy symptom!
Buddy wants eggs for dinner tonight. . .
